Road to Glasgow: Key Netball Dates To Start 2026

As the countdown to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games continues, the netball calendar is beginning to take shape with highly contested match-ups in both international and domestic leagues.

January to February: International Series and Domestic Starts

The year begins with the conclusion of the international window. From the 29th January to 1st February, England’s Vitality Roses will travel to Johannesburg for a three‑match SPAR Challenge series against South Africa’s SPAR Proteas. For both nations, this early test window offers a crucial opportunity to continue experimenting with combinations and to set the tone for the year.

February then delivers the first international series between Australia’s Origin Diamonds and Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls, who face each other for the first time in a series from the 5th to 11th February, across Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne. With Jamaica coming off a series loss to England with a relatively inexperienced side, this test may allow for the more experienced players to integrate into Sasher-Gaye Henry-Wright’s combinations. Whilst the world champions are coming off two series wins against South Africa and New Zealand.

Domestically, the UK domestic season begins with The Netball Super Cup on the 21st February acts as the official curtain‑raiser to the Netball Super League (NSL), offering fans an early look at all teams before the league season gets underway.

February to May: Domestic Leagues Take Centre Stage

The Netball Super League regular season begins on the 27th February, launching a 14‑round campaign that runs through to late May. With double‑header events scheduled in Nottingham and Liverpool, the NSL continues to prioritise increasing visibility while providing a vital competitive platform for England’s Commonwealth hopefuls.

In Australia, the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season gets underway on the 14th March. With no Team Girls Cup this year, the SSN has been moved in order to conclude before the Commonwealth Games. As the most physically demanding domestic league in the world, SSN will certainly play a significant role in shaping the Diamonds’ readiness for Glasgow as well as giving international players experience against some of the best players in the world.

New Zealand’s ANZ Premiership begins slightly later, with a condensed season, starting on the 11th April. Running through until June, the league provides the final major domestic testing ground for the Silver Ferns before international camps and the Games preparation begin.

South Africa’s Telkom League is expected to begin in late April (to run till early May), although official 2026 dates haven’t yet been released publicly.

June: Finals

By June, domestic competitions will conclude. The ANZ Premiership moves into its finals series in early June, while the Netball Super League follows closely with play‑offs and a mid‑to‑late June Grand Final.
